CHIHUAHUAS ARE MY THING!!
My name is Michelle "Chelle" Cecil. I have been breeding Chihuahuas for about 10 years and when I
started out I realized that I had alot to learn. I began by accessing most of my information from books, The American Kennel Club, other responsible breeders and eventually added that to my own personal experience. I have learned most of all that breeding chihuahuas or any dogs for that matter is alot of hard work and a labor of love. Love of the breed. I am always striving to breed to the AKC standard and to breed with a well thought out plan by researching pedigrees.
I have been showing for about 8 years and learning about the standard and gained some credibility from my peers by breeding and standing by my ethic and policy of only selling my pets with limited AKC registrations and spay or neuter contracts. THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS RULE WOULD BE FOR SHOW AND CONTRACTUAL AND STRICTLY ENFORCED. This protects the integrity of the breed and the health and safety of beloved pets. This is a practive that I share with my peers and other responsilbe breeders.
Also no where in the standard does it descibe Chihuahua as "teacups" so I do not breed them. Chihuahuas, as the standard states, are a Toy Breed, 6 lbs.or under. Sometimes I will get pups on the smaller end of the scale, but most pups I breed are 4-6 lbs. full grown, a heathly weight and size.
When considering adding a chihuahua to your family it really helps to do research about this breed, they really need alot of attention and consistant love and support especially in the first 6 months. This time is very important to bonding with the pet and making sure that they are trained to your schedule and lifestyle. Having a chihuahua is a lifetime commitment, their lifetime, which could be upwards of 15 or so years. Serious consideration of what it would take, how wonderful it would be, and how much love a new chihuahua can add to your family. I also recommend that if you are purchasing a new puppy, that you insist on seeing the parents and the environment where they have been raised so you can evaluate the temperments of the parents. It is clearly recommended by most breeder referrals that you follow these practices. In my experienced opinion breeders that refuse to follow these practices may have something to hide. I find also, in my opinion, asking new prospective chihuahua owners to meet in parking lots or by the side of the road to be unacceptable.
If for some reason this is not possible because I or any other breeder is only able to ship the puppy, because of location, I would insist on speaking to previous clients who have purchased pups or dogs from the breeder. Respsonsible breeders will provide phone numbers and email addresses to previous clients for referrals. See the referrals pages.
If for some reason the new owners cannot care for the pup/dog at any time in there life I would like to be notified as to help you find a new home or get the pup/dog back myself. If you for some reason the pup/dog gets in a new home I would like to be notified for my records to know where the pup/dog has gone and the new owners should be able to contact me if necessary. My main concern is that the dogs are well loved and taken care of for there lifetime....
The available pups will be shipped either from Fort Smith Arkansas for the amount of 250.oo or Tulsa Oklahmoma for the amount of 300.00. This cost includes shipping crate, vaccines to age, Vet checks for health and soundness of the pup and when the pup receives a clean bill of health he provides letter stating so as will as a health cerficate for travel and letter of acclimation which are both required by federal law for shipping. Also I feed Purina One Puppy and will send some with the pup, but the airlines will not allow me to ship a Purina puppy package throught the flight, so I can send it in the mail to you at my expense this is also included in the shipping fee. Some breeders may send the pups too young which can result health issues and or trauma to the new pet, 10 weeks is usually when I ship a pup, only if I feel confident the pup is heathly enough to go, If not I will keep the pup a bit longer until I feel it is safe for the pup. Ultimately It is all about the pups for me , they will always be my babies and that is why I really screen the new owners thoroughly, asking alot of questions about the home and family. When we decide one of my pups is for you a 100.00 deposit will be mailed to me to hold the pet, or the full amount to speed the process as check or money orders will have to clear before shipping. Deposits are none refundable due to new owners change of heart, if the pup is paid in full a 100.00 fee will be charged and taken out of refund due to change of heart.
My health guraratee states that the new owner need to take the pup within 3 working days to the vet to get another health check, providing a stool sample, if the vet finds anything life threating, a letter from him is necessary, and a refund for the price of the pup will be made, when the pup is sent back to me and a confirmation of the issue is made by another vet. Shipping will be the new owners responsiblity, I am very confident that the pups are in the best of health or I would not send them....
